Simpson Strong-tie Class Jacksonville Nov 15th

I have been working with Ron Gaines of Simpson Strong-tie and have recently received the approval from Simpson to sponsor AIBD members for a Introduction to High wind Design & Construction class to be taught at the Simpson facility in Jacksonville on November 15th.  Simpson has agreed to pay for our hotel rooms and meals during the event.  Ron will address the membership this weekend and will provide more information regarding registration etc.  Our members will be required to hold their hotel rooms with a credit card but Simpson will pay for the rooms.  The member's credit card simply holds the room in case someone backs out.  Below is a brief description of the class.

Introduction to High wind Design & Construction

This workshop is designed especially for engineers, architects, specifiers, building officials, and builders interested in high wind resistant construction. Detailed information will be presented on Strong-Tie products for high wind resistant construction. Special attention is given to the changing building codes and insurance issues. The "continuous load path" concept will be covered in detail, with highlights on uplift, lateral, and overturn resistant products. We will also review innovative new products such as connectors for light gauge steel construction and Simpson Anchor Systems. This course focuses on Strong-Tie products and field applications.
